Julie may have used the term "new favorite" about this stocky bay mare 15.0 hh, 14 years old.  Perfect age and size, great hip, kind eye.  Everything you'd want in a nice quality QH-type stock horse for ranch riding or trials.  Sound with no vices, good attitude but has likely been a recip mare as she didn't know much about the bridle but willing to take a rider. This mare received no care for a serious wound injury that happened some time ago. We have started her on antibiotics and will provide regular wound care and cleaning and she will recover well and with training make a solid riding horse. It's going to take a little time to get her educated (or re educated.) Will post updates as we go along. Currently not the bomb proof, kids safe, well broke horse that everyone is looking for, but a good horse nonetheless....stay tuned.

Julie's notes about Bristol - Older broodmares have been a repeated area of failure for me. It is really tough to get an older mare going after she has been standing around being used as a uterus on legs. I could digress into my thoughts on the people that don't teach their brood mares anything or give them any sort of life insurance policy beyond reproducing… but I think you guys all know my feelings on that. 😒 So, I am happy (and proud) to tell you that Bristol is going to successfully make the transition to a good riding horse. We are still working on her leg, but I love her mind and her willingness to try. Nice job Bristol!!
